About Lesson
What is Social Engineering?
Social engineering is a manipulation technique that exploits human psychology to gain unauthorized access to systems, data, or facilities. Unlike technical attacks that rely on vulnerabilities in software or hardware, social engineering targets the human element, often considered the weakest link in cybersecurity.
Social engineering involves tricking individuals into divulging confidential information, performing actions that compromise security, or granting access to restricted areas. It is a powerful tactic because it bypasses technical defenses by exploiting trust, curiosity, fear, or urgency.
